It doesn't need anything, but it has a pulse. There's a silent throb through this film thats's started by Roy Budd's Main Theme and then doesn't need to be maintained. A neat trick, which allows wind and rain and general Northern shit to burst through without being over-encumbered with orchestration. The pulse is a heartbeat, slower than you'd expect, because it's a professional.
