Music For Max Heindel

...perhaps accidentally coerced out of me via the mysterious package of Grade A drugs that arrived for me last week [more on this later but if it was you, thankyou :)] but I've been mini-obsessional about 'benevolent music' recently: music that settles the nerves and makes you feel at home, music that seems to come from where you come from, homely and heimlich music, music to soothe adult babies, music for Max Heindel, music that doesn't elevate so much as lower you down through the layers, unravelling tiny truths along the way...

A Yousendit Benevolence

There are probably better 'ambient' tracks, probably more sophisticated cyclickals but it just doesn't get more homely than this, something about the way the male and female voices cross and merge and the chords descend at just the right intervals forms a music of the spheres that continually evokes images that feel vaguely Rosicrucian or perhaps it just sounds like I imagined Kepler's Harmonice Mundi...

"According to Kepler, each planet produces musical tones during its revolution about the sun, and the pitch of the tones varies with the angular velocities of those planets as measured from the sun. Some planets "sing" relatively constant tones: for example the Earth only varies a semitone (a ratio of 16:15), from mi to fa, between aphelion and perihelion, and Venus only varies by a tiny 25:24 interval. Kepler explains the reason for the Earth's small harmonic range:

The Earth sings Mi, Fa, Mi: you many infer even from the syllables that in this our home misery and famine obtain.

At very rare intervals all of the planets would sing together in perfect concord: Kepler proposed that this may have happened only once in history, perhaps at the time of creation."
